28 MAY 2017 (SUNDAY)

This was the last day of our trip around Ranau-Kundasang. We had a pleasant beauty sleep at the Crystal Hill Hotel, and we did manage to watch a beautiful sunrise. Around 8.00 am we started packing for our check-out, had breakfast and headed to our next destinations.

Desa Cattle Farm

Earlier in the morning, around 8.30 am we went to the Desa Cattle Farm which is situated 7.3 Km from our Hotel. The journey took more than 20 minutes to get there. The condition of the road is okay, but there were few holes and bumpy road which made the ride a bit slower. The whole time on the way I was driving cautiously. Throughout our journeys, we enjoyed the refreshing surrounding view. We saw villager houses, cottages, resorts and vast area of agricultural. When we arrived, we directly went to the counter to pay the entrance fee which is RM5 for an adult. The operation hours of this place is from 8.00 am - 5.00 pm. The vast area is located at the foothill of the majestic Mount Kinabalu. Most people came here to take beautiful photos with a fantastic background of Mount Kinabalu. Also, these vast areas offer various activities such as feeding the calves with bottled milk and feeding goats with grass. There were shops selling souvenirs, dairy products, and delicious ice-creams. We had a superb moment there.

Memorial Park

Our next destination was the Memorial Park which is 5.4 Km from the Desa Cattle Farm. This area is near to the heart of Kundasang District, where most of the shops are available. The entrance fee costs only RM2/person, while the operation hours are from 8.30 am until 5.30 pm. The park honors the brave Australian and British prisoners of war who died in Sandakan and during the infamous death marches to Ranau during World War II. We love the surrounding area, It is covered with colorful flowers, greenery, and some pine trees. Besides, the building is attractive with its beautiful architecture. After satisfied with the sight-seeing, we decided to go home, but first, we have to stop at the last destination to buy some souvenirs.

What are you doing sis?

Pekan Nabalu

Our last pit-stop was at the Pekan Nabalu. This area is filled with many small shops. The seller sells many goods ranging from traditional foods (tuhau, bosou, sinoko), local craft, local fruits, vegetables and others souvenirs. The toilets also provided there. If lucky, the view of Mount Kinabalu can be seen from the site. Unfortunately, the clouds were thick on that day. Thus, we cannot see anything. So, we bought some 'keropok' for our snack on our way back home. The goods price is affordable, and sometimes you can do bargain. We reached home at the late of the evening. We were exhausted especially me because I am the driver. Hu-hu. But all in all the short weekend trip was worth it.
